Latest news:

June, 2013: Alexander Kuznetsov has joined the project and will be performing undergraduate research this summer. He will be investigating the applicability of state-of-the-art segmentation techniques from computer vision for high-resolution overhead imagery.

December, 2012: PhD student Yi Yang successfully defended his dissertation titled Image Retrieval, Classification and Object Recognition Using Local Invariant Features in High Resolution Remote Sensing Imagery.

July, 2012: Our abstract titled Multi-Scale Object Models Based on Local Invariant Features with Application to Spatial Extent Estimation has been accepted for oral presentation at the workshop on Geographic Object Based Multi-scale Analysis at GIScience 2012.

May, 2012: Vibhor Jain has joined and Andrew Pierce has re-joined the project and will be performing undergraduate research this summer. Welcome!

May, 2012: Our paper titled Geographic Image Retrieval Using Local Invariant Features has been accepted for publication in the IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing.

January, 2012: Yi presented our paper Estimating the Spatial Extents of Geospatial Objects Using Hierarchical Models at the 2012 IEEE Workshop on Applications of Computer Vision.

November, 2011: We presented our demo paper titled PedSeg: GPS Tracks as Priors For Overhead Image Segmentation at the 2011 International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems.

June, 2011: Our paper titled Spatial Pyramid Co-occurrence for Image Classification has been accepted at the 2011 IEEE International Conference on Computer Vision.

May, 2011: Brent Edmunds and Andrew Pierce have joined the project and will be performing undergraduate research this summer. Welcome!

August 30, 2010: We have a research paper on Bag-Of-Visual-Words and Spatial Extensions for Land-Use Classification and a demo paper on Content-Based Geographic Image Retrieval (CBGIR) accepted for publication at the 2010 International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems.
